Tumblr 先前因卷入儿童色情风波，一度被苹果 App Store 下架，故宣布 12 月 17 日起，逐步删除平台的所有成人内容。另一方面，也有用户矢志保留有关内容。当中，成立 Archive Team 的 Jason Scott 更亲力亲为，致力在期限到来前尽力保存相关内容。
Tumblr 于 12 月 3 日公布禁令，估计牵涉 70 万个 Tumblr 账户，预计部分更会完全消失。Jason Scott 表示，一般平台通常给予 30~90 日的通知期，而 Tumblr 的通知期相对而言，实在太短。
除了 Jason Scott 外，也有不少网友使用其他工具保存违规内容，但规模仍无法与 Archive Team 相比。Jason Scott 已于 Tumblr 宣布禁令后立即展开行动，大规模下载内容。截至目前，他的团队已下载超过 4 万个账户的内容，但仍只是全部资料的一小部分。Scott 估计相关内容共 400~800TB。

此外，著名存档网站 The Internet Archive 也承诺会出手相助，协助 Tumblr 用户保存所有内容。除了旧资料，也有人致力开发替代网站，如 Timbr，制作者承诺将会重现以往的 Tumblr 环境，让用户只需要将旧有账户的字串复制，即可马上套用至新网站。可是无论哪种方案，同样需要与时间竞赛，才能在期限来临前拯救所有有关内容。
